“’Multiple Portraits’ is a series of ’paintings in motion.’ The classic film language is deconstructed as action and characters are fragmented in simultaneous screens. Anthropology, meets digital cultures —searching new ways of experiencing narrative. ”

Multiple Portraits Trilogy
“Fragments of action unfold across simultaneous screens, dissolving traditional storytelling into living paintings. These site-specific projects are where space, time, and narrative intersect, offering viewers an active dialogue between movement, image, and music. Each installation reimagines how contemporary art can inhabit both the digital and physical worlds, blurring the boundary between observer and participant
Tarahumara Project (2024, Spain/Mexico, 7min) delves into the endurance and spiritual connection of the Rarámuri people, famed for their long-distance running and deep ties to the land. The work blends intimate documentary-style footage with rich soundscapes, creating a sensory immersion in the landscapes and rituals of the Sierra Tarahumara. The project draws a revealing contrast between ancient traditions and the encroachment of modernity, inviting reflection on resilience, memory, and cultural continuity.
Humans in the Desert (2022, Spain/Jordan, 6min) evokes the vastness and isolation of Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert through minimalistic, black-and-white imagery. The installation follows a ritualistic exchange, where a bag is passed hand-to-hand between humans and animals in a quiet, wordless narrative. This delicate, cyclical gesture touches on shared instincts and the deep, often unspoken, bond between humans and the animal world. The work invites to meditate on memory and the enduring ties that unite all living beings.
Penelope is Waiting (20015, Spain, 7min) reimagines the timeless myth through a contemporary lens, exploring themes of longing, solitude, and resilience —through four simultaneous projections, each offering a fragment of her silent, enduring wait. From gazing through a balcony to preparing coffee, these moments of stillness and quiet strength portray a woman suspended in time, embodying both the resilience and the emotional complexity of waiting. Set in a stark, dreamlike space, the installation offers a meditation on longing, presence, and absence, transforming the myth into a universal exploration of patience.
Each installation becomes a site-specific experience, speaking through its unique environment. These works dissolve traditional storytelling, inviting the viewer to inhabit spaces where time, narrative, and sensation are in constant flux. From the endurance captured in Tarahumara Project to the rituals of Humans in the Desert, the fragmented myth in Penelope is Waiting, the dreamlike confrontation in Oedipus, and the surreal world of 282 Broadway, each piece emerges from its setting, challenging boundaries and engaging deeply with its surroundings. These installations create breathing dialogues that stir emotions and reflections on how we live (move, wait, endure…) within the spaces we inhabit.” Site I Behance I EXTERNAL REVIEW
Art in New York
“282 Broadway (2000, Spain/US) is a mixed-media exhibition that unfolds across six distinct spaces within 282 Broadway in Brooklyn, New York. The installation juxtaposes found objects —such as fishing nets, dry fish, and vintage toys— with handcrafted elements like glass, wood, and metal, creating a dialogue between the everyday and the artistic. Selected pieces include "Chinese Flying Boy," a life-sized sculpture by visual artist Lisa Rubin, surrounded by fish traces and illuminated by articulated flashlights; "OctoFighter," a creature with tentacles resembling an octopus, made from a rare metallic stand for construction; and "Lulu's Hallway," featuring a metallic body of a female threatened by a saw.
Each work invites viewers to engage with themes of identity and culture, offering a rich tapestry of visual narratives. The project transforms an iconic New York space into a living memoryscape. The installation breathes life into an apartment with windows to the subway level —layering traces of past and present. Visuals, light, and sound help to turn the space itself into an active participant in an expected urban artwork.”
Myth in Transmedia
“Oedipus (2015, Spain) is a site-specific art installation created as part of the seven Visual Poems for the transmedia film You Are Mythical (2018, Spain). This installation unfolds at the 49:58-minute mark of the film, where Oedipus, a character caught between past and future, confronts his mother in a surreal moment of reflection. As he dreams of escaping to New York, the installation shows the tension between desire, fate, and the inescapable pull of family ties.
The work is presented across multiple screens —four small, one medium, and one large— each showing a fragmented, overlapping narrative that mirrors Oedipus’s inner conflict. The visuals are drawn from the transmedia documentary film New York Spin (2002, Spain/US), which portrays Newyorkers lives. These screens create a layered, immersive experience, where the lines between reality and dream, past and future, dissolve. Through the juxtaposition of intimate, fragmented imagery and expansive landscapes, Oedipus challenges viewers to confront the complexities of identity, destiny, and the city of dreams that looms large in the character's psyche.”
